Synchronizing complex design system across different organizations and teams at Google, such as Nest, Google photos, Android, Meet and Duo
Previously
I worked on Gmail and Chat that has over 2 billion users, leading express work streams ranging from composing, replying, sending to messages actions. Last year, my design influenced the launch of Gmail Hub and Google Workspace (aka Gsuite) with the integration of Docs, Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Drive, Meet.
Before that, I was a Lead Designer on Google Keep, bringing the experience to smart watches and Chromebook, which grew the user base from 20million to 40 million.
Contribution to the design community
As a Google Design Sprint Leader and Trainer, I’ve facilitated over 20 sprints covering 15 products with 200+ cross-functional participants. As a result, 7 products were created from scratch, 8 products were redesigned; these helped the teams to gain 6 UX headcounts. I also trained over 100 designers/researchers/PMs to become design sprint masters both inside and outside of Google
I believe the best way to grow is to give away, thus I share my design journeys and professional growth experience on Youtube and Medium, as well as offer UX office hours to help people who want to grow in the UX industry.
Outside of work
In my spare time, I love dancing 💃 and have been performing on stages with thousands of people. I also like decorating home🌷, trying new food 🍜and travel all over the world 🧳✈️🚄. These life experiences always spake my innovation and deepen my understanding of human beings.
I’m always ready to embrace new challenges and explore what’s the next revolution that would change people’s lives. Let’s chat more!
Prior to Google
I've accumulated practical experiences at a variety of Industries
At Samsung, I explored IoT smart home & AR fitness experiences, striving for balance between better user experience and technology constraints
At Mercedes-benz, I applied the brand in evoking emotion in autonomous Driving experiences and conveying product usability in elegant ways.
At Lenovo, I adapted to agile process on the native Web Navigation App which served millions of users.
Education
I studied Industrial Design at University of Science and Technology Beijing, where I learned how design can leverage technology in innovative ways to meet users’ needs.
In 2013, I came to US and studied Product Design at ArtCenter College of Design, where I designed user-centered products/Apps with business strategy. The challenge from sponsored classes by Adobe, Dell, Jaguar/Land Rover and Intel encouraged me to blend research, design, technology and business into product ecosystem.
